How to Choose a Web Designer

You know you need a Website… but who will build it for you?  Kevin McLeod, presenter of the ‘Getting Your Business Online’ seminar, outlines the different options for hiring a web designer and the costs associated with each option.

In order to find out which type of designer is most suitable, Kevin invites you to ask yourself a few questions:

  • How quickly do you need the website to go live?
  • How much time are you willing to dedicate to the project?
  • Have you a defined scope for the website which a developer can work from?
  • And, most importantly what is your budget?

He then outlines the three different options available to you:

  • Do it yourself designer: For those who have a technical mindset and are ready to go through a learning curve.
  • Freelance designer: For those who have a tightly defined scope and have completed their due diligence before employing a designer.
  • Professional design firm: For those who would like to target a large non-local market and would like a guaranteed good product at the end.

Kevin is CEO of Yardstick Services, a web development and web marketing company which helps small businesses all over the Lower Mainland.
