Business Myth #1: Your Work Will Speak for Itself

A common business myth is that if you’re good at what you do, your work will speak for itself.

Busted! When it comes to Business, MAKE SOME NOISE!

The only way your work speaks for itself is if someone is listening. In this day and age of information overload, mergers, downsizing and job uncertainty, you can’t assume anything. Most people don’t get up in the morning thinking “What can I do for you?”

Network with intent

Stop selling (and worrying about the outcome or being pushy) and start to focus on others and create connections.

Openly talk about your business

Treating your business as a business means being proud to tell everyone why you do what you do! Just remember . . . it’s not about you, it’s about the people you’ve helped through doing what you do.

Involve others

As Entrepreneurs, we have a tendency to ‘do it all’. Share your goals with those who know and support you and enlist their help in getting the word out that you are in business! Create Ambassadors by asking for testimonials.

Stretch out of your Comfort Zone

Seek the advice or mentorship from someone whose business acumen you admire. Try something different when it comes to your marketing strategy.  Be creative.

Expand your circles of influence

Make a list of the people or types of people that you want to connect with. Leverage your existing connections by asking them if they know these people and would they provide an introduction for you. You don’t know until you ask.

Pick up the pace, gather steam, have some fun, create momentum and MAKE SOME NOISE!

Remember – what happens in your business this month will impact how it looks in the next 30, 60, 90 days! And so on…and so on…and so on!

Now go get connected!
