Continuing Small Business Education & Training: Building Blocks for Success

The role of continuing business training and education is to help entrepreneurs reduce the risk associated with starting and running a company.  This can be done through topic-specific packages bundling seminars, books and one-on-one advisory services at Small Business BC.

Thoughts on Starting a Business

SBBC business packages enable entrepreneurs to determine if their business idea is viable as well as inform them how to conduct market research, write a business plan, source financing and understand the essential legal and tax requirements applicable to their businesses.

Just ask Giovanni Amenta, owner of Pink & Grey Style and Image Consulting, who has taken numerousSBBC seminars and recommends that new and existing entrepreneurs take all the offered courses.

“You can never have too much knowledge when starting and running a business.  There is no magic formula and you have to find your own path to success.  However, it’s a lot easier to find that path if you are armed with knowledge in all areas of business,” explains the acclaimed top style guru of Vancouver. – Giovanni Amenta

The Struggles of Starting a Business

Like most aspiring entrepreneurs, Giovanni shares that one of his biggest struggles was getting his business started.

“I had no idea where to start and what I needed for my legal, accounting, branding, and public relations. With the help of Small Business BC, I was guided through the start-up process step by step,” says Giovanni Amenta.

SBBC seminars are led by industry professionals who educate with a practical approach to help an entrepreneur understand what it takes, realistically, to operate a business.  In turn, Giovanni found the seminars Tax Tips from an Accountant by Gabrielle Loren and Marketing and Sales Business Toolkit by Fiona Walsh especially helpful.  “The accounting and marketing courses by Gabrielle and Fiona have been instrumental in helping me with my business because they provided clarity in areas of business that I was confused about,” says the certified image consultant.

Since starting his business in January 2009, Giovanni continually commits to making the people of Vancouver look and feel fabulous by providing his clients with positive and uplifting style advice.  He is also busy finishing his book due to be released fall 2010 and currently is in meetings to host his own style themed TV show.

You will have a chance to meet Giovanni at SBBC’s Inspire, the Freshest Business Fair of 2010, on October 1 from 1 to 4:30 p.m.  This is a dynamic afternoon of activities, exhibits, networking and education to get your juices flowing with fresh ideas for your business or to inspire new business ideas.

Giovannis Most Important Image Tip

Along with local entrepreneurs exhibiting their products and services, seminars about effective branding and marketing and tips on how to perfect your business pitch, Giovanni will be offering his image consulting advice with event attendees.

“The most important tip I can give is to be the best version of you, do not try to look like anyone else or what you think people want to see.  You will attract the right people to you by conveying who you are in what you wear,” – Giovanni Amenta.

There is no guarantee of success in any business venture but the odds of success for business owners who have taken education or training in self-employment, as well as incorporating hard work, dedication and passion, increase exponentially.
