September 8: Small Business BC INSPIRES Entrepreneurs for Small Business Month

September 8, 2011, VANCOUVER – To kick-off Small Business Month, entrepreneurs are invited to learn firsthand from small business owners and experts about the hot new trends in digital marketing at INSPIRE - cool concept & fresh ideas.

INSPIRE is a one day event hosted by Small Business BC and sponsored by Telus to educate small business owners on the changing the face of marketing; how to apply apps, QR codes, social media, crowdsourcing and more to their own small businesses.

Keynote speaker, Rob Barnett, Co-founder of Straydog Marketing and Design, will discuss the latest trends in communication and digital marketing strategy with a specific focus on QR codes. With a strong background in business, marketing and brand strategy, Barnett has worked for large corporate brands including Coca-Cola, Powerade, Sunbeam, Kraft, and Kleenex. Through real business applications and market trends he’ll talk about both the benefits and challenges of digital marketing for small business.

“Wireless technology has changed the way people communicate, and as a result it has necessitated and allowed small business to change the way they reach out to consumers,” says Barnet. “In today’s world, people want information on their own terms, and that means, anywhere and anytime, so it becomes increasingly important that small business owners engage and familiarize themselves with the trends and possibilities of digital media, lest they miss reaching the today’s consumer!”

Following the keynote presentation, two panel discussions will highlight and explore the use of mobile applications for small business and the use and benefits of crowdsourcing. Entrepreneurs and experts from Vancouver will answer questions and share their knowledge and experience.
